Gemma has painted her father's country south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert.  This country is named Mungai.  The central shape represents people travelling through the country.  The dotting represents the variety of seeds that can be found and other bush food such as tjirrilpatja (bush carrots) and Kantjilyi (bush raisin).

Gemma lives in the small indigenous community of Balgo. She began painting in 1999 and continues to create beautiful works of bright hues and traditional concepts.  Her father is Thomas Galova and she is learning the themes and stories painted by her Auntie, Bai Bai Napangarti, who is a well-renowned Warlayirti Artist.
