Regular price $75.00

Artist: Nami Kulyuru

Story:

This story is of two women camping. They have digging sticks looking for bush food. They are travelling on foot around Australia – through sand hills and mountains looking for mai (food). They were travelling from Western Australia to Wamitja (Birthday Creek), close to Ernabella. When the ladies get to Wamitja they camp there the night. In the morning they see a man by himself sleeping on the top of a mountain. The ladies hit the man and roll him to a cave and hide his body. They keep travelling towards Ayers Rock. Nami says this is her mother’s story – a very big story. Nami only knows parts of the story.

This traditional Kashmiri handicraft vitally supplements an often fluctuating rural income. Wool is custom dyed to match the original artist's image and hand stitched onto a cotton base. Each cushion is backed with natural coloured cotton canvas, and closes with a zip.

Please note this cushion contains an insert by Innergreen's line of recycled PET cushion inserts filled with 100% PET fibre, which is derived from recycled water bottles. They look and feel similar to a high-grade polyester cushion insert, but have a greater resilience rating and will last for much longer. For every 1kg of fibre used, we can save more than 70 water bottles from landfill.
